Early Intervention

  • Adolescents or young adults identified “at risk” either through the school disciplinary or counseling program are invited to participate in an early intervention with a parent. Parents may also request this service.
  • The session lasts approximately 90 minutes on the Renaissance Campus and involves private discussions between parent and counselor, child and counselor and child and peers in treatment. The focus is on identifying the risky behavior, clearly understanding the potential consequences if the behavior continues and working as a team to stop the behavior. Parents are provided tools to maintain parental controls and a referral for out-patient treatment or an in-patient assessment may be made. The counselor will follow-up with the family to chart progress or offer additional support services as needed.
  • Alumni parents are available to speak privately with parents in crisis about the decisions they are facing regarding getting help for their child. By speaking to parents who have lived through a similar situation, parents in crisis can be reassured about choices they are marking.
