Telethon
Each year 2 On Your Side hosts the Kids Escaping Drugs Telethon to help raise donations that enable us to continue our mission. All funds raised through the telethon directly benefit the programs of the Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign and the kids of the Renaissance Campus. The telethon helps to educate parents of the drug problems in area schools, the reasons behind teen drug and alcohol use and the recent meteoric rise in the abuse of prescription and over the counter drugs by area teens.
In 2013, the telethon will become quarterly and will take place during the evening news cast; the first segment will air in May. Both KED and Channel 2 are excited about the new format and the opportunity to reach more viewers.
**The first telecast will take place on Wednesday, May 29th during the 5:00-6:30pm newscast. There will be incentives available as well as an online auction!
